3-Ingredient Butter Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened and slightly melted

1 cup powdered sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

2. Cream the Butter and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Using a stand or hand mixer, beat the mixture at the highest speed for about 5 minutes, until it becomes light, fluffy, and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl periodically to ensure everything is evenly mixed. The mixture should turn from yellow to white and resemble whipped cream.

3. Incorporate the Flour
Gradually add in the all-purpose flour. Start mixing on low speed to prevent the flour from flying out of the bowl, then gradually increase the speed. Initially, the mixture will look crumbly but will soon come together into a thick, smooth dough resembling a paste.

4. Pipe the Cookies
Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip (approximately 1/2-inch opening). Pipe swirls or your preferred design onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Once all cookies are piped, refrigerate the trays for 30 minutes to chill the dough and prevent spreading during baking.

5. Bake the Cookies
Place one tray in the middle rack of the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Look for the edges and tops of the cookies to turn a light golden brown. (Baking time may vary slightly, but mine took 18-20 minutes.) Remove the tray from the oven and allow the cookies to cool directly on the sheet. Repeat the process with the second tray.

6. Cool and Store
Once the cookies are completely cooled, transfer them to an airtight container. They can be stored at room temperature for up to a week.

Tips for Perfect Butter Cookies

Use high-quality butter for the best flavor and texture.

Chilling the dough ensures the cookies maintain their shape during baking.

If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a cookie press or shape the dough into small balls and flatten slightly with a fork.

These 3-ingredient butter cookies are melt-in-your-mouth delicious, with a rich buttery flavor and a delicate crumb. Perfect for tea time, holidays, or as a quick sweet treat, they’ll become a household favorite. Enjoy!
